  5. eyelashes, grasstips, moth of dreams, breath of moss--munch, klimt, cocteau--what is a kiss...a hand of myth, rising from a sea of silver, shivering with photons, dripping with mercury, ashes in a black night, falling.....

  8. anonymous!!!

hi again, and how could i answer your question, do you want her complete name and birth date and address, and perhaps her list of hobbies? :-P

can't you try something more... let's say related to the aesthetics of the picture, or some metaphorical flight of the imagination, look, Manuela has seen a swan dance and a violin, it can't be that difficult, can it? :-)

    (just teasingggg :-)

  9. Manuela, thank you for the link... and for your amazing words, i looked at the pictures again and tried to see it with your eyes... and what you said brought these Cohen lines to my mind, a song i love above all (but just the lyrics as such are fabulous):

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
And dance me to the end of love
Yeah, dance me to the end of love

Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
And dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love... both of us above
And dance me to the end of love
Yeah, dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
And dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand... touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

  10. salut, Allan :-)

  11. sutton, hi! welcome and thank you for these poetic flickers of dreams...
i can't imagine how this small picture of mine could have inspired all those connections and images, but i am happy that it did, and amazed!

  12. Wellyes... if you are happen to having those numbers and that information handy please be passing them on...

"some metaphorical flight of the imagination,"

    A what of the what?

sorry, us poor non academic mortals cannot understand what is being meant by this.

is she yawning..just waking up? What a most boring kiss this is!

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh, anon, i was just preparing to give you all that information but then i see you think the kiss would be boring, so what for??! unless you take some secret pleasure in boring kisses, as we say in Romanian, "one can find everything in God's garden" :-)

    ReplyDelete
  14. let us not be too harsh on the poor little girl..perhaps she was nervous in front of your camera or in front of you? I'm sure she can do better if given the opportunity.

In Gods garden can we be finding second chances? Is this girl gypsy girl from your country?

you asked about aesthetics and i looked this word up on google. I would be saying that you cut off picture too early.

    ReplyDelete
  15. let me think about second chances... no, sorry, i am not the kind :-P

but yes, perhaps i intimidate some people, God knows why :-)

here is a lovely song for you, talking about gipsy girls:
    (Cohen again, of course!)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljvKsgxDflY

    or at least the lines:

And where, where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight
I've heard all the wild reports, they can't be right
But whose head is this she's dancing with on the threshing floor
whose darkness deepens in her arms a little more
And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?
Where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?

Ah the silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe
A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee
She says, "My body is the light, my body is the way"
I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet

And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?...

Too early for the rainbow, too early for the dove
These are the final days, this is the darkness, this is the flood
And there is no man or woman who can't be touched
But you who come between them will be judged

And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?...

but now you've made me laugh with that dictionary and cutting off too early, maybe you'll get your third chance after all! :-P

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am not understanding. Doesn't god decide on second chances?

why "your" second chance? I am talking generally and phiolosophically

i will listen to this mr. cohen. was he with the beatles?

    ReplyDelete
  17. ah, you well know my struggles with words... and the photo goes beyond into being a felt sense - which is how we arrive, me at music, you at poetry

you let us see your beauty, beauty through your sense - thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  18. well, god may decide generally, but on my blog i decide which bantering comments i accept to publish :-P

    that's why :-)

yes you do that, one should always listen to Mr. Cohen, especially on a rainy Sunday...

    ReplyDelete
  19. ah Manuela, now i am speechless... you are too kind... so i guess i will just give you another of those endless hugs of joy :-)

  21. lovely!

And though she is alone, the title made me think of the Klimt painting, which is also lovely//

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  24. SZ, wow, you are the second one to mention Klimt, Sutton said something about that too - i hadn't thought about that at all, my picture being so dark and... totally different :-) but i am glad, because i love that painting - and Klimt, yes!!!

    ReplyDelete

  27. it would superfluous to discuss the artistic qualities here (or the length of hair or other dimensions ;)) - but maybe white could be slightly less white so that it won't distract the eye from the actual kiss (and who wants to be distracted ;))

    ReplyDelete
  28. surely...you have a way with women ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Beyond beautiful. This evokes such a moment of revery and passion. The remembered kiss, or the anticipated kiss --- the photo keeps its mystery, while simultaneously drawing us into this warm interiority of soft motion in shadow, of whisper....

    ReplyDelete
  30. I so would love to see your pics on a page rather than the computer screen so I could really take them in.

    ReplyDelete
  31. flawless beauty..incredible expression!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Eneles, i am always open to artistic discussions :-)

actually i've got a totally dark version, but i liked it better this way, seems more mysterious somehow... but maybe i am wrong.

however, if a gypsy girl like this were to kiss somebody, i don't think they could get distracted by anything else, be it white or black :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. zuma, oh yes she does, yes she does... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. James, hi :-)

the remembered kiss, or the anticipated kiss - perhaps the most magical moment is when one is on the thin line in between, and they become one - or perhaps not? Bachelard would say that no real, present moment could ever compete with such reveries conjured up by imagination, in which past and future are mixed :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorlil :-)

if the print is very good quality, yes... but i have seen many in which the images actually looked better on the screen.

you know, if you tell me which one you like most, i will print it for you and send it to you - it will be my gift for the great event which is approaching :-) when actually? ah i am so excited for you...

    (the astra girl perhaps?)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ah, Anamay :-)

finally... i'm so happy i finally managed to lure you into breaking the magic silence :-)

thank you. it means a lot, really.

    ReplyDelete
  37. would you do that? that would be wonderful! one of my all time favorites is this one -

    http://roxanaghita.blogspot.com/2008/04/purple-in-shade.html

I really love this photo and if I ever published a poetry collection I would love to have it as my cover picture.

of course what I really want is to buy a big fat book of your photos :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. ah

Sorlil, that was the first time you wrote on my blog!!! of course i remember that very well :-)

i would love to see a poetry book of yours - now regardless of my picture being on the cover or not, but if so... what an honour and joy!!! :-)

thank you so much for believing in me...

i will take care of that as soon as i can, i promise. please write me your address in the mail:

    aralya@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  39. And since when has 'she' started referring to herself in the third person?

    ReplyDelete
  40. oh, zuma, this is quite an old habit, i do this from time to time - i am surprised you haven't noticed, now now, more vigilance is needed if you want to shine declaiming in front of a full bench forever! :-P

i think i got it from Robinson Crusoe :-) the first book i read in my life, very strange, no?

    ReplyDelete
  41. oh...no doubt, you are enticing with your words.

    ReplyDelete
  42. what a knife edge sharpness of the kiss!! lovely eyeblows..mr..

btw, which planet are you from?? Your esthetic apprearance is far superior than that of human... :p .. I saw movie version of 'Star Trek' last week..

    ReplyDelete
  43. The remembered / anticipated kiss ... the liminal frisson of the slashmark between terms (i.e., "terms" as words, "terms" as periods of time), the atemwende of the remembered kiss that is suddenly implicated in the kiss still to come, simultaneously with the imagined kiss to be feeding back into the now-equally-imagined re-collection ... is this not the richness behind her eyes? Ah, yes yes yes, Bachelard. As much as I love him.... This revery is meaningful only after one has some experience of fleah and blood kisses....

    ReplyDelete
  44. after all the cakes and ices... the terriotory of artistic discussion is fully covered here - maybe someday blogger will introduce comment threads and I won't have to subject myself to klimt comparisons ;)

yet I doubt that anybody kissing this one would show total disinterest to the closes, however scant they may be ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Peter, "lovely eyeblows" means "lovely eyebRows"? :-P this is so lovely, indeed!!! - i have been wondering what this meant until i've remembered the silen/siren thing :-)

I wonder if the word "eyeblow" exists in english :-)

i liked Star Trek a lot when i was young - but not these new hollywood versions...

    ReplyDelete
  46. oh yes yes yes James, you are right about flesh and blood, Cohen's gipsy girl would be totally lost in the now-kiss and the remembered/imagined kiss would have no meaning any more, her whole being an atemwende, no, blutwende :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Eneles, i was silently amusing myself about Klimt, because i was sure you would find something to object here (or should i say: here as well :-) - be it only because you don't like Klimt, i know that - but i do oh i do

i don't understand 'to the closes'.

    ReplyDelete
  48. at least.. I keep maintaining your attention and make you laugh out loud.. I am proud of that!! :p :p

Yes, the holywood movie was just good enough to remind me of the excellent series.. :-)
