let yourself be bound to fire

Photobucket

'Illuminated memory, vague gallery where
dwells the shadow of my hope. It is not
truth that will come. It is not truth that
will not come.

Photobucket

She leaps with her shirt in flames
star to star.
From shade to shadow.
She is the one who dies a distant death
the one in love with the wind.

Photobucket

she says she does not understand about the panic of the death of love
she says she is afraid of the death of love
she says love is death is the panic
she says death is the panic is love
she says she doesn't understand

Life, life of mine, let yourself fall, let yourself feel
agony, life of mine, let yourself be bound to fire,
to raw silences, to green rocks in nighttime's
house, let yourself fall and feel this agony,
my life of mine.
'

  1. So fine to see and read you again.

  2. You see, he who spoke of a sorceress at work here, could only see those speculations confirmed beyond the shadow of a doubt with such a magically illuminated collection as this.

Or perhaps that is going too far, for in the realm of shadows and clouds and fire and night and moon and vapors weaving myriad emotions into raw visions there must always be doubts; must always be doubts for there are no certitudes in the shadowy moonlight like tonight under a nearly full moon, where one walks in the dark woods, seeking the hidden path that leads to the stairs which climb and climb and climb up to where one may take a first tentative step upon a floating bridge, to see if it will hold one's weight... but where is the guide ?

    Marc.

  5. I've had to look at this a couple times thinking maybe I'm missing something, but these photos give me a feeling of joy. "Ode to Joy" were the first words that leapt into my mind. Masterful.

  8. Roxana ...hello.

The first picture has the serenity after the storm witnessed, as if the pain was better than the calm afterwards, how sweet was that pain.....the words compliment the pictures nearly perfectly.

I haven't read Pizarnik but a kindred spirit had once, in days of mirth, recommended Ocampo, another Argentine poet. You did not tall me about the tale of genji....any any favoured japanese novels?

  9. these images burn inside me, long after i have turned away, calling everything into this dream, the surpassing strangeness of the any-self as it trembles into recognition, pressed to the mirror of the world ... and so i return....

  10. Unsettling and intriguing, these themes that you return to are like a giant secret narrative.

  11. Roxana,

  16. Prospero: oh, my poetic soul -

Stickup Artist, so fascinating, how different our readings of the same images can be - i love this! :-)

    Hello, Kubla
i am sorry, i meant to write a second answer about Genji - i hope you got my first one on your blog?
yes, you are right about the inspiration for my blog title, in fact i made once a couple of posts honouring its source, you will find them if you click on the archive: "the floating bridge of dreams".
are you reading Genji now? it is one of my favourite novels ever. i love many Japanese writers, indeed. perhaps you would like Mishima and Tanizaki? i am curious about you and Japanese literature: on the one hand, i think you should love it, because it can have both violence, eccentricity and melancholy; on the other hand, there is nothing there from that Dostoievskian spirit that you like, no great conflicts and debates of ideas - everything is subdued and ambiguous.

i am glad to know that you found something in this post.

Hi Jon, thank you so much!

  17. James, could one be a poet without this 'burning'? i don't know - but i know you know everything about word and burning, it's enough to read a few lines by you -
(ah, but what would the Bridge be without your returning to it again and again :-)

Sorlil, yes. a giant secret narrative, you put it perfectly, thank you :-)

    fff!!!
what can i say, i cannot hide that glow, it seems :-)
