This picture... it almost seems biblical, like the hands of a god reaching down with the blessings of fruit. (quite unlike another, more sinister, hand of god...)
I am so drunk I have lost the way in and the way out. I have lost the earth, the moon, and the sky. Don't put another cup of wine in my hand, pour it in my mouth, for I have lost the way to my mouth.
Actually those couple of smart people already identified all the essence in life far long long ago before Christ so that we don't need to dig anymore but just practicing.. though cold-blooded science, techology and capitalism of today put the things less and less value.. Your photo has all time rich & mythical context to ponder.. muchas gracias!
thank you for telling me this, Dave. the Heidegger quote is very much out of the context (he is trying to relate hands to thinking and going from there to the essential aspect of our humanity), but I liked it so.
Image faut dire qu'il est d'une simplicité mains qui cache de nombreux symboles, j'en dit pas plus.

i love hands! and these are so gentle, and the poem seems to speak from within the picture...
ReplyDeleteI did not know either of those quotes. Now I do and that has enriched me. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI have lost the way in
and the way out.
I have lost the earth, the moon, and the sky.
Don't put another cup of wine in my hand,
pour it in my mouth,
for I have lost the way to my mouth.

hi Peter, if 'just practicing' would be so easy... thank you for seeing the mythical context.
sz, who doesn't? :-) (more such fingers right now :-)
beautiful hands
ReplyDeleteare words hands, givers, takers?
mansuetude, it seems as if we are really talking, being both online and writing and answering at the same time :-)
ReplyDeleteit is a great question and it actually goes in the same direction with Heidegger's attempt to link hands and language as attributes of our humanity.
