i don't know what happens, but i can't post any more photographs because their quality is very low after uploading (this is visible even in small format): blotches of pixels ruin the entire image. i became aware of this problem on Tuesday and hoped it would solve itself, but that hasn't been the case. friends of mine have reported the same issue. has any of you had a similar experience? any advice?

I'm not in the least bit technically-minded but other photo blogs I know have moved to wordpress, something to do with blogger having a set amount of picture space available for each blogger.
ReplyDeletethank you dear Sorlil, i have checked and it is not that. but i got some advice what to do and i will try that now, let's see if it works out.
ReplyDeletei'm glad it works now and you're back, and with such a magnificent post. hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Roxana,
ReplyDeletethe best thing to do if Blogger has a bad day and ruins pictures (you're very lucky if it's the first time it happens to you) is to host the photos somewhere else. For example, you can open an account and upload your photos in www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.us. The page will assign a direct link to the picture after the upload, which you will need to copy. If you use Flickr, you will need to right-click on the image and copy its URL.
Then, when you come to Blogger, you press on the button which is intended for you to post your picture and instead of uploading you use the URL option and paste the direct link the photo page gave you.
If the resizing tools have a moody day (another very usual Blogger issue)you can either use the resizing tools in the site you used for uploading the images, or (if you want to keep them so that they look bigger when somebody clicks on them) enter the HTML edit box and change the size there. The code looks like this: "width: 400px; height: 216px". You can manually enter numbers there.
Keep the great work!
Simply put, absolutely beautiful. -Jayne
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been an issue for some time now on blogger...I always feel that my images are of much lower quality once I upload them - the colours are often not as sharp and the same for the images. I usually resize the photos and upload them and did consider a move to wordpress, but I do rather like my current page.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this may be useful or not, but if editing the size of the photo by clicking "Edit HTML" while composing the post, after setting the width and height values, it also helps alot to change the "s400" value which is the default, to a bigger value, like "s1024"... doing that solved the quality problems I was having with very blotchy, blurred looking images... they got much sharper...
ReplyDeleteIn any case, good luck...
thank you all so much for reacting immediately to my rather desperate cry for help :-) and indeed i had considered moving to wordpress myself, but it is not easy to transfer an entire Bridge over night...
ReplyDeleteAtenea, i hadn't thought of this solution, uploading on Photobucket etc., it is good to know that there is also this option. and yes, i had always adjusted the html code manually, usually it worked if i completely removed the height/width line and replaced s400 with s800. but not anymore.
and the answer was indeed to replace it with a higher number, even higher than the one you mention, Owen: s1600. i really hope this will work from now on as it seems to do now.
again, your kindness is much appreaciated, i am very grateful...
Jayne, thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words...
ReplyDeleteMani, hugshugs :-)
ReplyDeletestill in engineering mood eh, trying to transfer an entire bridge over night :-P
ReplyDelete(& besides all that: i'm convinced that the only true solution is that you publish your photos in a book we will all scramble to pre-subscribe to)
Buna, Roxi. Toate cele bune, Gabi.
ReplyDeletefff, actually i was horrified at the prospect that my engineering abilities would be needed :-)
ReplyDeleteah that book, you make me dream... which is perhaps not so unappropriate here on this bridge - good that my cartesian alter-ego (see, i wouldn't even presume to have an engineer-esque one :-) keeps me with my feet firm on the ground - only when it comes to _the_ book, it is so successful, of course :-)
